Diana’s career as a designer is inspired by a desire to contribute to a more social and sustainable society. As her career as a designer evolved, she became interested in how design can help to solve complex societal issues, leading her to focus her work on "creative innovation".
Since 2003, Diana has been working as a designer, editor and cultural entrepreneur in the field of social innovation. In 2006, together with Michiel Schwarz and Jan van Tiel, she co-founded The Beach, a network of creative innovators. The Beach initiates and produces projects in collaboration with creative partners, companies and institutions that aim to build a more social and sustainable society.
She studied Graphic Design and Architecture at the University of Arts Utrecht (HKU). Since 1984 she has been developing as a designer and creative director for profit and non-profit clients, was international design director at Randstad and editor-in-chief at design magazine Items.
Together with Michiel Schwarz she initiated the Open Book for Sustainist Design project that resulted in the Sustainist Design Guide (2013).
She also serves as a member of the creative board of Executive Master in Information Management of the University of Amsterdam. She was a board member for the Premsela Institute of Design and Fashion, Transartists, Young Designers & Industry and Urbaniahoeve.
