Making = connecting

Making is connecting

Makers + co focuses on ‘making new style’: crafts & media, recycling and sustainable use of materials. In this process, Makers + co involve ‘values’ that play a significant role in today’s society. For example: the interconnectedness of everything, the re-evaluation of localism, the concept of less-is-more and that property makes way for sharing.

New makers are emerging. Craftsmanship is being rediscovered and new types of industry - like hypercrafts and do-it-yourself - are current issues.

Along the way, we will explore the significance of ‘making’ for people and for society. This is achieved by reflecting on our own practice as designers and those of others. We explore new forms of making and what they imply for our surroundings. To make is a verb, thus we proceeded beyond reflection and exchange. Craftsmen, culture makers, policymakers and educational professionals delved deeper into current developments of industry in their local context through workshops, plenary presentations and debates.
